Refugees or asylum seekers registered with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) are among those unlawfully deported or arbitrarily detained pending deportation. Nigeria charts new course to revive factoriesNigeria has launched a sweeping industrial policy aimed at restarting idle factories, boosting domestic manufacturing and positioning Africa?s largest economy as a competitive production hub in global supply chains. Federal authorities say the framework is designed to tackle long-standing structural weaknesses that have undermined output, including erratic power supply, limited access to long-term finance, foreign exchange volatility and infrastructure gaps. Manufacturing accounts for less than 10 per cent of gross domestic product, a level economists argue is insufficient for a country of more than 220 million people seeking to diversify away from oil. Officials describe the policy as a...

Murtala Muhammed?s ?Africa Has Come of Age? and PBAT?s ?Strategic Autonomy?: Quo Vadis?Life amp; Style | 5 seconds ago Bola A. Akinterinwa Africa has been object and subject of concern in international politics. It is the most critical region of the world in terms of exploitation and insults. It is also the continent for which musicians have complained to God almighty, asking why Africa is not on the good books of God. True, Africa was partitioned at the 1884 Berlin Conference with a stroke of the pen, a partitioning that divided the same ethnic people. For example, the Yoruba people were divided between Dahomey, now Benin Republic, and Nigeria. The Hausa and Fulani people were similarly divided, some living in Nigeria and some in Niger Republic. As a result, when law...

Participants employed only traditional methods, including hand-woven nets and calabash gourds, with some demonstrating their prowess using bare hands. The Kebbi State waterway teemed with woven nets and canoes as fishermen waded through. This year?s champion landed a 59kg (130-pound) croaker fish, winning a cash prize. Other...
