Les retrouvailles des meilleures équipes

L'équipe nationale du Sénégal se retrouve en finale pour la troisième fois sur quatre éditions. En 2019, les « Lions de la Téranga » se sont inclinés face à l'Algérie, et en 2022, ils sont venus à bout de l'Égypte aux tirs au but. Les Sénégalais ont également disputé une finale en 2002, qui s'est soldée par un échec aux tirs au but face au Cameroun. Cette équipe fait preuve d'une impressionnante régularité et reste invaincue depuis 17 matchs dans le cadre de la CAN.

En 2022, le Maroc a atteint le dernier carré de la Coupe du monde, le meilleur résultat jamais obtenu par une équipe africaine dans l'histoire de la compétition. Cependant, les « Lions de l'Atlas » n?arrivent pas à retrouver leur niveau habituel à la CAN depuis longtemps. Il s'agit de leur première finale depuis 2004, leur seul sacre remontant à 1976.

Sur le chemin de la finale, les deux équipes ont affiché des statistiques similaires : 5 succès et 1 enjeu partagé. Mais avec une différence notable : le Sénégal n'a pas réussi à s'imposer en phase de poules face à la RD Congo, alors que la situation ne l'exigeait pas. Les Marocains, quant à eux, ont disputé un match dingue de 120 minutes, suivi d'une séance de tirs au but en demi-finale face au Nigeria.

Fait intéressant, le Sénégal et le Maroc sont les deux équipes les plus chères de la CAN 2025 selon Transfermarkt.

Effectif

Avant même les barrages, le Maroc a perdu Azzedine Ounahi sur blessure, mais la profondeur de son effectif lui permet de pallier cette lacune.

Côté Sénégal, Kalidou Koulibaly et Habib Diarra seront forfaits pour la finale suite à leur disqualification, ce dernier étant devenu titulaire indiscutable lors des barrages. Leurs performances n'ayant pas été très bien notées, Koulibaly reste quand même le capitaine et le pilier de la défense.

Scénario possible

Les deux affiches du Final Four ont été marquées par un jeu extrêmement prudent. En finale, la pression sera encore plus accablante.

Les deux équipes aiment contrôler le ballon. Mais pour le Sénégal, la possession s'avère souvent stérile. Les « Lions de la Téranga » n'auraient pas pu percer l?arrière-garde égyptienne en demi-finale, si Sadio Mané n?avait pas osé exécuter la frappe lointaine imparable (2 buts et 3 assists au cours du tournoi).

Le Maroc n'a encaissé qu'un seul but, mais même en demi-finale contre le Nigeria, la meilleure attaque de la CAN 2025, l'équipe n'a pas adopté un jeu de béton rigoureux, malgré quelques pertes de balle. Les « Lions de l'Atlas » rencontrent également des difficultés dans le placement offensif, et Brahim Díaz, auteur de 5 des 9 buts des hôtes du championnat, n'a pas cassé trois pas à un canard face aux « Super Eagles ». Ayoub El Kaabi (3 pions) n'a eu qu'une seule action décisive en barrages : une offrande décisive à Ismael Saibari en quarts de finale.

Par ailleurs, les deux finalistes peuvent se vanter des gardiens de but d'élite. Yassine Bounou et Édouard Mendy concèdent tous deux moins de buts que ne le laissent présager les xG de leurs rivaux.

Les hôtes de la CAN ont célébré la victoire dans 12 sur 15 finales, dont les trois dernières. Un argument de poids en faveur du Maroc.
