Sudanese general promises executions over deadly protest crackdown

A top Sudanese general said on Sunday that he would execute anyone found responsible for the killing of protesters when security forces moved on June 3 to break up a sit-in protest outside the headquarters of the Sudanese armed forces in Khartoum. quot;We are working hard to take those who did this [the June 3 raid] to the gallows,quot; said Lt Gen Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, deputy chairman of the Transitional Military Council that took charge after the military toppled president Omar Al Bashir. quot;Whoever committed any wrongdoingquot; will be held accountable, he said.
