Rights groups say death sentence on Mauritanian blogger should be quashed
Nouakchott, Mauritania (PANA) - Mauritania must immediately and unconditionally release human rights defender Mohamed Mkhaïtir, who has been sentenced to death for criticising the use of Islam to justify discriminatory practices against minority ethnic groups in the country, human rights groups - Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch - have said ahead of his appeal trial.
