UN: UN expert welcomes new anti-slavery law in Mauritania, urges effective enforcement
New York, US (PANA) - UN Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Slavery, Ms. Urmila Bhoola, on Friday applauded the adoption of a new anti-slavery law in Mauritania that doubles, from 10 to 20 years the maximum prison sentence for slavery crimes and creates special prosecution tribunals for slavery-like practices.
