Mauritanian ruling party seeks absolute majority in Parliament

With 52 parliamentarians elected during the first round of the legislative polls on 23 November, the ruling Mauritanian Union for the Republic (URP) is poised for an absolute majority in the National Assembly following the run-off vote in the legislative and municipal elections, according to political analysts.
